Welcome to the Wantage Literary Festival

In the Literary Vale….

The Wantage Literary Festival is an eclectic and lively mixture of events covering literature, poetry, comedy, history, science, the arts and much more. Held during the October school holiday, the Festival is dedicated to promoting the love of literature in all its forms to everyone in Wantage, Oxfordshire & Beyond!

Celebrating all things literary, with talks, workshops, themed evenings & family friendly shows, the Festival can be found happening in venues around Wantage, & is generously supported each year by local businesses, organisations & authors. Events are organised by a Director and a dedicated team of volunteers, who also help run a charitable outreach programme bringing the wonder of words to local schools.

2021 Festival Announcement

Following the inevitable decision to cancel Wantage Literary Festival 2020, we must acknowledge the reality of being unable to guarantee the viability of an indoor Festival in October 2021. It is, therefore, with very heavy hearts that we have had to take the decision to once again cancel the Wantage Literary Festival for October 2021.

We are heartbroken not to be able to deliver the Festival for a second year running but we must continue to protect our wonderful authors, audience, volunteers, and the community. We also have to acknowledge that reduced venue capacity, safety and additional costs would cause unsustainable losses to the Charity. The team do plan to bring you live literary events when it is safe and venues allow, so please keep an eye out via our newsletter and social media.

Thank you for your continuing support.

Thanks so much for inviting me back to the festival this year. I had such a wonderful time and the audience were as lovely as I remember from last year!
